C ollections are the heart of the Evanston Historical Society. After all, the mission of the Evanston Historical Society is to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret the history of Evanston. The collections document the history and growth of the city of Evanston from the Native American times, to the period of the first settlers in the 1830s, through its incorporation in 1863, to the present. Approximately 3,500 artifacts, including everything from household items and business material to furniture and fine art, comprise the museum's artifact collection. Our exhibits and research are entirely dependant on these collections.
