The
Dining Room is noteworthy for many reasons. It is quite large, and could
comfortably seat 40 people for dinner. Charles Dawes preferred a round
table to a rectangular one. The circular table is unusual for such a formal
dining room and could be expanded with specially built, pie-shaped wedges
to seat 18 guests. The barrel vault ceiling adds to the elegance of the
room, and the cornucopia design of the molded plaster is very appropriate
for a dining room. In addition to its beauty, the high ceiling makes room
for the musicians gallery, allowing for live music during meals.
This room also boasts a stunning Tiffany chandelier with a daffodil motif.
