From the Dining Room, we enter the kitchen. Mr. Dawes added the day room and extended the back door upon his purchase of the house. The kitchen is quite large and has both a butler’s and dry pantry. Domestic staff almost exclusively used this room; family members did not spend time here. A special feature in the kitchen is the call box, known as an "annunciator," an early intercom system.
